Warangal: The Warangal police have arrested a gang of four persons selling vehicles with fake registration documents here on Monday. Disclosing this to the media, Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu said that six cars, one tractor dozer, Rs 50,000 cash, a computer, a printer and 30 grams of gold ornaments were seized from the arrested persons.

He said that the accused were identified as P Sudheer Reddy of Bhupal Nagar in Mulugu mandal, Mohammed Sadiq of Puppalagutta, Bolla Rakesh Reddy of Ramchandrapuram in Mahabubabad mandal of Warangal district and Mandanapu Naveen of Papatapalli in Khammam district.

The Commissioner of Police said one of the accused Sudheer Reddy was involved in various cases of theft in the past under KUC police station limits. After being released, he joined as an auto finance collection agent. Later, he established a gang involving RTA agent Sadiq, Naveen and Rakesh who knew how to use computers.

Sudheer Babu said that they used to prepare bogus no objection certificates (NOCs) of various finance companies stating the finance amount was paid even before they were redeemed from the Company. Later, with the help of Sadiq, they applied for original registration certificates by offering money to RTA staff, he added.

With the help of original registration certificates issued by the RTA, they obtained loans for the second time on the same vehicle from leading auto finance companies such as Sriram City Union, Mahindra and Sundaram Auto Finance companies. Thus, they earned an amount of Rs 14 lakh, he said.

Following a complaint lodged by the finance companies about fake registration documents of the vehicles, Additional DCP M Yadaiah has set up an investigation team under the supervision of ACP (Crime) Eashwara Rao and led by Inspector of Police Adinarayana to probe into the case.

During the interrogation, the arrested persons have confessed to their crime. The Police Commissioner urged people not to buy vehicles being offered at low prices without verifying the documents.
