Two women drown in Godavari

Two labourers from Mahabubnagar district were washed away in river Godavari at Kanthanapally in Eturunagaram mandal on Saturday evening. The deceased were identified as P Kalpana (20) and K Parvathi (25) of Maddikatla village of Boothpur mandal in Mahabubnagar district.
Eturunagaram (Warangal): Two labourers from Mahabubnagar district were washed away in river Godavari at Kanthanapally in Eturunagaram mandal on Saturday evening. The deceased were identified as P Kalpana (20) and K Parvathi (25) of Maddikatla village of Boothpur mandal in Mahabubnagar district.
They had been working at Kanthanapally irrigation project site for the past six months. It was said that the women entered the river to have a bath but were washed away as they could not gauge the depth of the river. Local swimmers were pressed into service immediately but they could not rescue them, said Eturunagaram tahsildar Gurram Srinivas. The search for the bodies of the deceased labourers would be continued on Sunday, he added.
