Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police on Thursday arrested four persons including a realtor on the charges of attempting to extort money from a businessman and threatening to kill him. The arrested persons identified as Mohammed Nawab (38), realtor from Malkajgiri, Mohammed Salman (21), painter from Neredmet, Mohammed Yousuf (28), painter from Moulali and Shaik Javeed (21), delivery boy in Megatron Lubricants at Nagaram and resident of Neredmet.

They have threatened to kill the complainant and attempted to extort money from him. Malkajgiri ACP M Ravichandan Reddy in a press note stated that the prime accused, Nawab, who learnt that a gang belonging to the notorious criminal Nayeem of Bhongir was extorting huge amounts of money by settling land disputes, decided to claim himself as member of Nayeem’s gang. He then tried to extort money from Pilli Anjaneyulu (61), a businessman from Malkajgiri.

Nawab colluded with Salman, Yousuf and Javeed to extort money from Anjaneyulu. On August 22, Nawab made a phone call to Anjaneyulu and introduced himself as a member of Nayeem’s gang. He warned Anjaneyulu to settle the dispute of a plot belonging to one Ghouse located at Moulali by paying him double the amount and also to demanded cash of Rs 5 lakh and 500 square yards plot from his lands.

Again on Wednesday, Nawab made another call to Anjaneyulu and instructed him to handover the money and papers to his associates at Keesara. When Anjaneyulu told them that he is a heart patient and cannot go up to that place, they directed him to meet them near Jain mandir in Malkajigiri, the ACP said.

Following their instructions, Anjaneyulu went to the place to inform that he could not manage to fulfill their demands. Enraged, Nawab slapped and threatened to kill Anjaneyulu and robbed Rs 10,000 from him. He also took the attested Court documents from him and also forcefully took the signatures of the complainant on four blank papers, stating that they would call him after two days.

On Wednesday, Anjaneyulu approached the Malkajgiri police and lodged a complaint. On tracing the mobile number and other clues given by Anjaneyulu, the police team rushed to the residence of Javeed and arrested them, the ACP added. The police recovered two motorcycles, four mobile phones, Rs 5,000 cash, one sword, four blank papers containing the specimen signatures of the complainant and a bunch of attested court case papers.
