Hyderabad: An unemployed post graduate from Alwal was arrested by the Cyberabad police on Thursday on charges of attempt to robbery of a woman at her house during the last week of August. According to the Alwal police, they received a complaint from one Bhupati Rao,


a private employee from Machabolaram of Alwal stating that, on August 29, when his wife Geetha Rani was alone at home, an unknown person entered the house and threw chilli powder at her and taped her mouth preventing her from screaming. As he could not find any valuables in the house, the he fled the place, the police said.


During investigation, P Amarender Reddy (26), an engineering graduate from Machabolaram was apprehended on Thursday based on the CCTV footage recovered from the neighbouring areas. During interrogation, Amarender told police that after finishing his post-graduation in Business Administration,


he could not get a job and he lied to his parents that he was working as a software engineer in a multinational company in another city. Factually, Amarender was living along with his friend Bhargavi in Uppal. To meet their livelihood expenses, Amarender attempted to rob the complainant’s wife.


On further questioning, he confessed that he was arrested by the Malakpet police when he attempted robbery at a house on August 15. Basing on his confession, Amarender was arrested and sent to judicial remand.
