A chain snatcher was caught red-handed when he tried to attack a woman in broad day light at KBR park in Banjara Hills on Wednesday morning.
The chain snatcher threatened the woman at knife point to hand over the chain. The alert woman raised an alarm but he injured her. The onlookers caught him and beat up him before handing him over to the police.
The accused has been identified as Kalaapi Santosh and six cases had been pending against him. He was released from jail on August 31.
According to the victim, Santosh first asked her cellphone but she refused to budge. "He took out a knife and tried to attack me when i refused to give him the chain and watch," she said.
