Hyderabad: Unable to pay the debts taken from the private financiers, a couple ended their lives by consuming pesticide at their home in Ghatkesar on Tuesday. According to the Ghatkesar police, Rajendra Prasad, 48 and Annapurna,

40, hailing from Alair in Nalgonda district, migrated to city about a year ago and were living in Venkatadri Township in Ghatkesar.

The couple was seen dead by their sons on Tuesday morning, who informed the police. The Ghatkesar police on reaching the home sent the bodies for post-mortem to Gandhi Hospital mortuary.

The police said they had recovered a personal diary belonging to Rajendra Prasad, in which he wrote that he had taken about Rs 40 lakh from several job aspirants by promising jobs at Survey of India. As he spent the money for other purposes, he could not repay the unemployed and the couple decided to end their lives.

On Monday, they mixed pesticide along with food and died in sleep. The bodies were found by their elder son, who is pursuing engineering. A case has been registered under suspicious death and investigation is on, the police said.
