Hyderabad: Four persons from the Old City were arrested by the South Zone police on Friday on charges of selling encroached lands located on the periphery of Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana briefs media about the modus operandi of the accused gang on Friday

At a press conference at his office, the DCP said the accused Ali Bin Mahmood Jabri (28), a realtor from Chandrayangutta, Mir Shaker Ali alias Mota Shaker (36), a realtor from Yakuthpura, Mohd. Amaan alias Sajid (22), a realtor from Vattepally and Shaik Ali Bawazeer (25), a plumber from Chandrayangutta, cheated 16 people by grabbing the lands of private people and sold them at throwaway prices.

The DCP said Chandrayangutta which borders Cyberabad area has become a boon for land grabbers. Several gangs of land-grabbers are functioning in the area and cheating innocent people. The gang had targeted Muslim women as victims and earned about Rs 1.5 crore.

“They identified open plots and under constriction buildings in the area which were not in the owners’ observation and prepared fake documents of land using the documents scrapped at the Courts. The scam had come to light when Tayaba Bee of Falaknuma lodged a complaint that the gang had sold them a land of 200 Sq yards in Bandlaguda for Rs 8.5 lakh, using fake documents,” the DCP said.

Mujeeb Khan, the prime accused who is currently absconding, managed to get old non-judicial stamp papers from the scrap of the Courts and used chemical wash to erase the content of stamp papers.

“He then handed over the papers to Amaan to retype the information provided by the other accused and created forged documents,” the DCP said.

“There are two more gangs consisting of over 10 persons who are yet to be arrested,” he added. They created forged documents of an open land in Bandlaguda belonging to Dr Syad Islamuddun, professor at a college and sold them to a doctor.

“So far they cheated 16 persons, but only five victims have lodged a complaint and the rest are worried to lodge one. We appeal to the victims to come forward and lodge a complaint and the police will ensure justice,” the DCP said adding that a proposal is also being sent to the City Police Commissioner to impose Preventive Detention Act on the accused.
