According to Devarapalli police, auto-driver Appulabokka Lakshmana Rao (40) of Christian BC Colony in Visakhapatnam had gone to Hyderabad, along with his relatives and friends, to attend Christian Gospel meetings on November 6.

The incident took place while they were returning home in four cars. Lakshmana Rao and his friends Eswara Rao, Podugu Srinu were travelling in a car. On reaching Devarapalli, Podugu Srinu who was driving, lost control and the car ended up in canal water.

While Podugu Srinu and Eswara Rao managed to swim to shore with injuries, Lakshmana Rao went missing. Devarapalli police fished out the body of Lakshmana Rao on Tuesday morning. The body was sent for autopsy at Kovvuru Hospital. The police registered a case, and investigation is on. The deceased is survived by wife and two children.
