OPERATION LATE NIGHT ROAM-YOS

Hyderabad: As part of Operation Late Night Roam-yos (Chabutra Mission), the South Zone police on Friday night booked 40 parents for allowing their teenage sons to ride bikes in odd hours.

On the intervening night of November 20, the police intercepted 56 minors who were riding their bikes at night and also 236 youth roaming in the streets of old city without valid reasons.

For the first time after holding counselling sessions, 40 parents of minors were also booked and were issued challans under sections of Motor Vehicle Act, for allowing their minor children to ride bikes late at nights. All of them were brought for counselling and temporarily seized bikes from their possession.

Initially the Deputy Commissioner of Police, V Satyanarayana, has taken a decision to arrest the parents of the minors for allowing their children to ride bikes which may endanger lives of others and personal safety. On that, the parents have requested to give a chance to rectify their mistake and gave assurance to follow the instructions of the police officers. Some of the parents said that their children had taken away bikes without their knowledge.
