Hyderabad: A 26-year-old techie working in Dell has been arrested by the city police for confining and beating up a Dubai girl, who was his former colleague. The girl was rescued after her friends from Bangalore approached the police.

Imad Hasan of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh working at Dell in Hyderabad had developed friendship with a 24-year-old Dubai girl, while she was working in the same company. The girl had gone to her parents in Dubai about two months ago.

Suspecting that the girl may be married to another person by her parents, Imad has been sending her text messages and making calls requesting her to return to Hyderabad and marry him. He threatened to kill her parents and disturb their family life and made her to return.

About five days ago, the girl came to Hyderabad to settle the issue with Imad and also to complete the visa extension procedure with her company. Imad went to pick her up from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad.

On Monday, from Imad’s mobile number, she sent a text message to one of her friends in Bangalore, that she was confined by Imad and requested to rescue her. The girl’s friends contacted the city police and informed about the situation. The police immediately swung into action and traced Imad to a flat in Tolichowki.

The police were shocked to see the girl tied to a chair and several bruises were seen on her face and also on her body. “Imad was taken into custody from his flat and the girl was rescued by the SHE team in very bad condition. She was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Imad had beaten her, threatened to kill her. He harassed and physically abused her for the past five days.

Basing on the complaint, the accused was arrested under the Nirbhaya Act and was handed over to the Humayun Nagar police,” said Additional Commissioner (Crimes and SIT).
