Rape victim told to go home naked, commits suicide

A minor girl from a Chhattisgarh village committed suicide after she was gang-raped and then asked by the rapists to go home naked. The Chhattisgarh police cracked the suicide case that occurred on the intervening night of December 29-30 and arrested five teenagers including three juveniles who allegedly were involved in the shocking incident that took place in Tenda Nabapara village under Ghargoda police limits in Raigarh district.

Ghargoda police officials stated that the five youngsters had gang-raped the 15-year-old girl and asked her to walk her home naked. The victim committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree with her scarf as she could not bear the shame. The alleged victim along with two of her friends had gone to watch a fair in the neighbouring village but while returning home, the five youngsters beat one of her boy acquaintances mercilessly and then forcibly took the girl to the nearby jungle, raping her one after another. They later fled from the spot taking away the victim’s clothes, purse, money and cell phone.
