Hyderabad: Neredmet inspector N Chandrababu was suspended on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in the kidnap of a 74-year-old man from Kushaiguda. Malkajgiri in-charge DCP E Ramchandra Reddy on Tuesday said, “The Station House Officer and inspector of Neredmet police station N Chandrababu has been suspended today for his involvement in the kidnapping of a 74-year-old man at Kushaiguda.

From the evidence available, it is apparent that the officer was aware of the entire case and has failed to inform any police officer about the accused which has come out during investigation. A departmental enquiry will be held in this matter and action will be initiated accordingly,” the DCP said.

The entire story could be one of the best crime thrillers of Mexican style, where a gang of kidnappers tried to coerce a lone elderly man to hand over his huge property, but finally caught by police. Cyberabad police on Tuesday arrested 12 members of a gang involved in the kidnap of a 74-year-old man from Kushaiguda in order to grab his properties located at ECIL area.

The property is worth over Rs 75 crore. The DCP said based on the complaint lodged by victim Bala Krishna Rao (74) of Kushaiguda, a case had been registered under section 352 and section 34 of IPC and special teams were formed to nab the accused. Footage recovered from traffic junctions provided clues and the car in which the victim was kidnapped was traced to Anantapur.

With strenuous efforts, the special teams nabbed J Yadagiri of Kushaiguda, Mohammed Abdul Khadir of Kushaiguda, D Subba Reddy, resident of Dammaiguda and native of Anantapur, R Ravinder Reddy of Dharmavaram, G Tirupathaiah, G Katamaiah, G Gurusekhar of Anantapur, D Venkata Shiva of Yousufguda, P Bheem Reddy of Shamshabad, J Jagan Goud of Nalgonda and R Murali Mohan of Neredmet, while the 13 others including prime accused P Madhu Yadav (56) of Neredmet is absconding.

Investigation revealed that the victim possessed land worth Rs 30 crore near ECIL as well as other properties, which worth over Rs 75 crore. Upon learning this, Madhu Yadav (56) and his brother-in-law M Srinivas Yadav created fake documents and both claimed that the victim had entered in to an agreement to sell the property to them.

Interrogation of the accused revealed that Madhu and two other accused tried several times to grab the properties of Krishna Rao. Madhu was running a fast food centre in the victim’s land for a long time and was not leaving the place. Later, he accepted to pay some money to the victim and settle the issue, but on knowing that the victim’s daughter stays abroad and would not come back to India, Madhu planned to grab the entire property, said the in-charge DCP.

He said that the accused Madhu approached his friends and offered Rs 50 lakh to kidnap the accused and get the property registered in his name. His friend had hired a gang from Anantapur and Mahabubnagar and offered them Rs 20 lakh. According to the plan, they kidnapped Krishna Rao on January 25, from his home, and threatened to kill him if he failed to register land on Madhu’s name and left him back at an abandoned place.

Upon their confession, Rs 1.3 lakh in cash, one bike and seven mobile phones have been seized from the accused and three cars, two bikes and some cash has to be seized from the absconding persons, the officer said. Neredmet inspector N Chandrababu was suspending after the evidence surfaced about his alleged involvement in the case.
