In a tragic incident, three students drowned in River Penna close to the Talpagiri Ranganatha Swamy temple here on Friday. The deceased were identified as Varshith (13), Faizuddin (15) and Lathif (15) of Kovur mandal. According to police, the students were from Kovur and were studying class-IX in TNC School in Kovur.

The deceased were identified as Varshith (13), Faizuddin (15) and Lathif (15) of Kovur mandal. According to police, the students were from Kovur and were studying class-IX in TNC School in Kovur.

They attended popular Ranganatha Swamy Rathotsavam as Friday happened to be a holiday for them. While returning to their home town, the trio ventured into the river for swimming and accidentally drowned in the river as they lacked knowledge on the depth of the water.

On receiving information, Nellore Three Town police rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies from the river. The police shifted the bodies to government hospital for post-mortem, said Circle Inspector Rama Rao.
