Hyderabad: The watchman of a private school was arrested by the LB Nagar police on Tuesday for molesting a class V girl on the school premises. The incident happened two days ago when the 11-year-old girl was at school. The school watchman identified as Ranjith had misbehaved with the girl following which she informed her parents about the incident.

They lodged a complaint with the LB Nagar police on Monday. The girl’s father MV Ramana Rao said that although, they had complained to the class teacher and also the school management that Ranjith was molesting their girl for the last three days by touching her, they did not take any action against the watchman.

The girl had initially brought this to the notice of her class teacher and then the school management, but no action was initiated against the accused. The victim’s father requested the school management on Sunday to take action, but nothing happened. Ironically, Ranjith continued to repeat his behaviour with the girl.

“The girl’s parents lodged a complaint yesterday alleging that the watchman of Johnson Grammar School located near Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar, had molested their daughter when she was alone. A case has been registered under section 354 and POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act and the accused has been taken into custody for questioning,” said LB Nagar inspector P Kasi Reddy.

Meanwhile, Balala Hakkula Sangham demanded stern action against the accused. They alleged that the management was collecting huge amounts towards fees but failed to provide safety to the children, especially girls.

It advised the parents of the children studying in the school, to withdraw their wards from the institution saying that the school was not safe. They also demanded that the government cancel the recognition accorded to the school.
