​Tirupati: City police arrested three persons and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh from them. Speaking to the media here on Friday, Tirupati Additional SP (Crimes) D Sidda Reddy said that Punith Reddy (21) and B Lokesh (20) residing in Sainagar in the city were arrested at Ramanujampalli, near on Thursday. He said both accused have committed seven burglaries under the limits of Tirupati and Tiruchanur.

During interrogation, the ASP said that the accused had confessed to crime. Apart from gold ornaments weighing 76 grams, police also recovered a laptop and two mobile phones from the accused.

Chain-snatcher arrested In another incident, police arrested S Chand Basha (29) near a temple on Gandhi Road here on Thursday. He is a native of Venkatagiri in Nellore district and now residing in Chinnakapu Street in Tirupati.

The ASP said he was involved in three chain-snatching incidents in the city. The police recovered three gold chains weighing 60 grams from him. The three were later produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody.
