Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Malkajgiri Zone on Monday nabbed four members of a ganja smugglers’ gang and seized 20 kg contraband besides four mobile phones from them.

The accused were identified as Kancharla Sridhar, 28, ganja supplier residing at Kothapally village under Annavaram mandal of East Godavari, Radinka Laxman, 32, resident of Kandarala village under Pitapuram mandal of East Godavari, Dara Manikanth, 28, a labourer and Rathod Ravi alias Ravinder, 26, auto driver and resident of Minelli village of Medak district.

Police said the accused K Sridhar procures ganja from Annavaram and Paderu agency areas and transports the same to Hyderabad through private travel buses with the help of Laxman and Manikanth and supplies it to Rathod Ravi, who resides in Patancheru. Ravi would purchase a kilogram of ganja at Rs 12,000.

Later, he would make small scahets of the ganja and sell it for Rs 500 to 600 per sachet. Ravi has been into it for the last one year.

On a tip-off, the Malkajgiri SOT sleuths nabbed the accused at ORR crossroads at Ghatkesar and seized two bags containing 20 kg ganja.
