Hyderabad: In what appears to be a clear case of corporal punishment, a 12-year-old student of a private school suffered fracture on his hand after he was allegedly beaten up black and blue by his teacher on Wednesday.

The boy, J Sreetej, son of J Avinash, was beaten up by his science teacher Sailaja mercilessly with a stick resulting in fracture on his hand. The boy is a sixth standard student of Lotus Lap Public School located in Dilsukhnagar.

“We have taken the boy to Sai Ram Hospital after he complained of pain and swelling was noticed. The doctors informed us that there was a fracture. Our boy told us that he was beaten up by the teacher for no reason,” Avinash, who works as a conductor in TSRTC told The Hans India.

He also said that his son was admitted to hospital for treatment. “We have filed an FIR with the Saroornagar police. But the police neither arrested the accused nor summoned the school management for questioning,” Avinash said.

He also said that his son was studying in the same school for the last six years and there was no complaint against him so far.

However, the teacher, Sailaja said she had to straighten two boys since they were fighting and she never intended to harm the students.

She also told reporters that the behaviour of Sreetej was consistently not proper and he was frequently troubling teachers and students. The same was informed to the boy’s parents in the past, she said.

Meanwhile, Saroornagar police registered a case and took up investigations into the allegations leveled by the boy’s parents.
