D-Mart cashier held for deception

​Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Friday arrested a cashier working in D-Mart at Ramachandrapuram branch for stealing debit card data of the customers for an online shopping fraudulent.

The accused, E Nagasai, a native of West Godavari district, joined D-Mart as a cashier in December 2016. While swiping the debit and credit cards of the customers, he got the idea of stealing the data, police said.

Accordingly, he used to note down the debit card number and also the PIN number of the customers whenever possible while swiping the card. Subsequently, he used to shop online using the data available with him, police said.

One victim, Sunil Chhajar of HUDA Colony approached the police when he received a message on his phone that Rs 35,000 was debited towards four transactions. He told police that he did not make the purchases and suspected foul play.

Based on the complaint, police investigated the case and nabbed the accused. Nagasai told his interrogators that he had committed similar offense with data related to two other people, which he stole during his job.
