​Hyderabad: Rachakonda police on Tuesday arrested a passport agent for cheating gullible people in the garb of finding them jobs abroad.

Police seized four original passports, identity cards such as Pan and Aadhar cards of the aspirants, 10 SIM cards including one each belonging to Dubai, Malaysia and Bangkok, visiting cards got printed in the name of other placement agencies, cash worth Rs 90,000 and other incriminating material from the accused Shaik Aslam Pasha, a resident of Bowenpally.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner, Mahesh M Bhagwat told reporters that Aslam had collected little over Rs 28 lakh from six people luring them to provide jobs in Australia.

Also, Aslam took the job aspirants to Bangkok, Malaysia and Dubai on visit visa on a promise that he would send them to Australia from there, but that never happened.

Since December, the accused had been avoiding the victims compelling them to lodge a complaint. The Special Operations Team (SOT), L.B. Nagar nabbed the accused, the official said.

He also said that the accused had got printed visiting cards, letter heads in the name of some other consultancies and furnished a fake address of Nizamabad in an apparent attempt to give a slip.

Mahesh M Bhagwat appealed to the youth looking for placement abroad to approach the government-run Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Limited (TOMCOM), for safe and legal migration.
