Vijayawada: A 14-year-old girl who left her home when mother and stepfather forced her into prostitution returned home after ‘marriage’ with a driver in Srikalahasti on Tuesday.

The girl was admitted to Government General Hospital here. According to police, the girl belonging to UDA colony in Payakapuram, stopped her education after class VII when mother Gottam Mani (38) asked her to do so a few
years ago.

Mani sells samosa at railway track and she married Duvve Mallikarjun who also sells samosas in her second marriage.

Mallikarjun also got married earlier and was blessed with a son and daughter from his first wife. After she left her studies, Mani and Mallikarjun tried to force the 14-year-old girl into prostitution. Fed up with the attitude of her mother and stepfather, she left home in June this year.

Meanwhile, her mother lodged a complaint with the police stating that her daughter went missing. When the cops probed the case, they found that the character of Mani was not good.

They began probe into the case by deputing a search team.

The girl, after leaving home, reached railway station here and boarded a train. She alighted the train at Guduru. She happened to meet a 25-year-old car driver Leela Krishna Reddy of Srikalahasti. He helped her recover from the stigma of past life and married her. When his parents were not willing to accept the marriage, he managed to keep her separately.

In the meantime, the girl came to know that the police have been searching for her. On the request of the girl, Leela Krishna Reddy accompanied her to Nunna police station where she narrated how her mother forced her into prostitution.

Police filed a case based on the statement of the girl and arrested the mother and stepfather. The girl was then sent to GGH for medical examination. The case is under investigation.
