Deputy Tahsildar in ACB net

Bhadrachalam: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials, led by DSP Saibaba, on Thursday caught Burgampahad Deputy Tahsildar Beeravelli Bharanibabu red-handed for demanding and accepting Rs 20,000 bribe from a contractor executing double bedroom houses in Morampalli Banjara village.

When the contractor sought permission to transport sand from Sompalli village as the housing project was nearing completion, the Deputy Tahsildar asked the contractor, Sivakumar, to pay a bribe of Rs 25,000 to do the official favours.

Later, the contractor transported six tractor loads of sand without permission. But, the Deputy Tahsildar persisted with his demand for the bribe. The contractor approached the ACB officials for help. They hatched a plan and caught the official while accepting the amount.
