The arrested was identified as Yadavelli Ramakrishna (38), a resident of Vanasthalipuram. According to police, Ramakrishna had visited his acquaintance home some days ago on the pretext of inviting them to his brother’s marriage.
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police apprehended a jewel thief and recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh here on Monday. The arrested was identified as Yadavelli Ramakrishna (38), a resident of Vanasthalipuram. According to police, Ramakrishna had visited his acquaintance home some days ago on the pretext of inviting them to his brother’s marriage.
During the conversation, he told them that he wanted to make the same jewellery and took the jewellery for taking photographs. The elderly persons, who handed him the jewellery, were shocked when they found the jewellery boxes empty.
Soon, they approached the police and lodged a complaint. Meanwhile, on Monday, Ramakrishna was caught by the police during regular vehicle checking at Chintalkunta checkpost, Vanasthalipuram. He failed to produce vehicle documents on being asked. The police also found some gold with the offender and then took him to the police station for further investigation.
During the interrogation, he confessed have committed five such similar crimes. With the arrest of Ramakrishna, five cases have been solved, police said. The accused was produced before the court, which sent him to judicial remand.
