Officials told to set up solar village in 15 days

Eluru: West Godavari District Collector Dr Vani Mohan has directed the DPO Alluri Nagaraju Verma to work towards creating one solar village in Eluru mandal and one solar division in Eluru Municipality that would act as a model village and division for future development and use of solar power in the district. The Collector had a detailed discussion with the officials on popularization of solar energy in the district. She assured the officials that there would not be a fund crunch with regard to provision of solar lights to slum areas and asked them to go ahead in popularising the use of solar energy and make the district as a model in the State in this regard. He asked the officials to see that farmers shifted to use of solar energy in running their motor pump sets for water supply. A team of experts would be sent to other states to get acquainted with latest technological developments for implementation in the State. DPO Nagaraju Verma assured the District Collector that the village to be developed as solar village would be selected soon after a survey.
