Kakinada: On the occasion of 29th anniversary of Sri Seetharamaraju Kala Vedika, the life history of Alluri Seetharamaraju was hotly debated. The founder-secretary of the Vedika, Mr. Pampana Dayanand Babu, presided over the programme held in this connection here on Sunday. Research scholars from all over the State participated in the debate. The speakers wondered why the proposal to set up a statue of Alluri in Parliament that was made during the time of Lok Sabha Speaker late Balayogi was delayed. The bravery that was shown by Alluri during the freedom movement and his history has been overlooked, they deplored. The Forum opined that a movement would be started for installation of Alluri's statue in Parliament and all Alluri service societies and voluntary organisations should participate in it. The Forum has been rendering relentless, selfless services for the past 29 years, and remained as a model, they lauded. They criticised the indifferent attitude of the Centre and State towards the preservation of the historical artefacts of Alluri Seetharamaraju. Girijans are still backward in many fields, they deplored. They said that there was need for creating awareness among people through pamphlets and letters and urged the public representatives to work with dedication to install the statue of the great leader in Parliament. More research should be done on the Girijan leader, they urged. There was an unexpected response to the photo exhibition put up by Padala Veerabhadrarao. Publisher of 'Kshatriya' daily Kosuri Janaki Ramaraju (Hyderabad), Alluri Youth Association State unit president Padala Veerabhadra Rao, GV Satyanarayana Raju (Bheemavaram), Shenumakula Bhaskar Rao (Rajolu), Dr Balakrishna Rao (Hyderabad), Dr Datla Ramachandra Raju (Visakhapatnam), Dongeti Sathibabu (Addatheegala), Kala Vedika honorary president Jyothula Seetharama Murthy, Dr Alluri Vijayalakshmi, Youngmen's Happy Club vice-president DVS Rajulu spoke. The Vedika felicitated with mementos and cash 16 members of Alluri Seetharamaraju family, including Sriramaraju and Satyaraju, sons of Alluri's brother Satyanarayanaraju and the family members of late Tirupati Raju. On this occasion, Alluri Sriramaraju said that they were proud to be heirs of Alluri who fought for the independence of the nation. He expressed joy over the programmes by Kala Vedika. The area where the Alluri family lives should be made into a tourist spot, he requested. The speech by TL Achari attracted the audience. The photo exhibition on Alluri was inaugurated by Dr K Sivaji Raju. The viewers were spell bound by the explanation given by Padala Veerabhadra Rao on the exhibition.
