EAMCET counselling in Telangana begins today

Hyderabad: After the Supreme Court verdict, the two Telugu states pulled the curtains down on the ongoing wrangling over the issue of holding joint counselling for EAMCET. The authorities of either state have agreed to hold joint counselling from August 14. At as many as 21 Centres in Telangana, the certificates scrutiny will be carried out from Thursday.

At a joint press conference conducted by APTEC (Andhra Pradesh Technical Education Commissioner) and EAMCET Convenor Ajay Jain and TTEC (Telangana Technical Education Commissioner) and EAMCET co- convenor Shailaja Ramaiyer, the officials said that in the background of the Supreme Court ruling, common engineering counselling would commence on Friday with web option entry from August 17 to 25 in both the states. The process of allotment of seats would take place on August 30 and classes would begin from September 1 as per the directions of the Supreme Court. Shailaja said that certificate verification process for Telangana would be held between August 14 and August 23. A notification was released for the same on Wednesday. She specified that all 23 helpline centres in Telangana were ready for verification process.

Web options could be registered from helpline centres or internet centre or from anywhere. The officials informed that Andhra Pradesh government had given permission for 330 engineering colleges, while in Telangana the government had approved 315 colleges where admissions would take place.
