Implementation from next year in Telangana schools

Hyderabad: Starting from the next academic year, school students in Telangana will have the option to learn Sanskrit and Arabic.

Accordingly the government has issued a GO No 9 in this regard on Wednesday adding Sanskrit and Arabic as optional subjects for second language from Class VI to X from 2015-16.

The government scrapped all composite courses from the current academic year. The issue of composite courses was discussed with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Finally the government scrapped it and issued a GO regarding the same.

A top official of the school education department said that after a thorough discussion in the meeting, composite courses were scrapped. “The school education department was of the view that learning a language under composite course would not be sufficient. If a language has to be learned, it should be for 100 marks. Learning a language for 20 marks would not lead to anything,” the official added.

Sources said that the OMR sheets without composite courses option were already sent to all the schools. And that could be another reason for scrapping composite courses.
