Hyderabad: VIT University has collaborated with Microsoft for a two-year career-oriented intensive-learning programme, making it the first engineering institute in India to initiate such a programme with the support of Microsoft architects and Microsoft Innovation Centre Team from VIT University. Microsoft will conduct a screening test for projects for the 5th semester of B.Tech during the second week of April.

Dr G Viswanathan, chancellor of VIT University said, “Out of 1300 applications, 150 students have been selected for induction. The programme also includes a paid internship of six months in its fourth semester.” For this programme, VIT students are required to apply for the screening test. This is followed by submission of Project Ideation and abstract by these selected students. This is to be done before April last week.

Then, students can undergo project development from May to September with the support from Microsoft architects and Microsoft Innovation Centre Team from VIT University. “The Microsoft Campus Hire team will then visit the Chennai and Vellore campuses of VIT University for the Project Evaluation and Final Intern Selection. This is based on the projects submitted during September last week and October first week.

Microsoft will finally offer the course to short-listed students for free. The course will begin from January”. This course will now be regular and permanent, available only at VIT University. Apart from IT, it will include submissions by students from biotechnology and electronic engineering as well.
