Professor Pulak Ghosh from the Quantitative Management Information Systems (QMIS) area at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore ( IIMB) has been selected as one of the two joint winners of the National Biennial award 2015 for outstanding contribution to the field of Statistics to Indians below 45 years.

Professor Ghosh will receive the prestigious award at a special function organized at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on June 29.

National Biennial award, which is accorded by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, is the ' Award for outstanding and meritorious research work in Statistics' in the Honour of Prof. C.R. Rao.

The award is awarded to eminent people for their outstanding contributions made towards the development of official and applied statistics.

Professor Ghosh will also deliver a keynote address at the award ceremony in presence of dignitaries, subject-matter experts and eminent personalities.

Professor Ghosh is the only Indian academician to have been featured in Analytics India Magazine's Top 10 Most Influential Analytics Leaders 2015.

He also serves in the Big data advisory group of United Nations. He is an academic fellow of CFRAL-RBI, and advisor to the knowledge commission of UNESCO-MGEIP.

He has published more than 50 articles in journals of International repute and has been in the editorial board of the prestigious Journals like Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: series A and Journal of the American Statistical Association.
