Visakhapatnam: The naval recruitment team from the Eastern Naval Command conducted Preliminary Screening Drive as part of University Entry Scheme (UES) in GITAM Deemed to be University here on Monday, a day prior to Navy Day.

Nearly 160 students including boys and girls from all the branches of Engineering took part in the drive. The charm of a career in the Indian Armed Forces could be clearly witnessed by the large number of students, who turned up for screening process, choosing Indian Navy as their career option.

While addressing the students Command Recruitment Officer Captain SC Das briefed that the selection process consisted of Group Discussion & Personal Interview as part of preliminary screening. He informed that Indian Navy recruitment process starts with Officers Intelligence Rating (OIR) and the aspiring students must equip with basic general knowledge, physical fitness, positive attitude during group discussions. He informed that English language skills are equally important to face the interview.

The shortlisted candidates will get call letters for Services Selection Board (SSB) from January 2019. The Screening Board president briefed the candidates on career opportunities in the Navy, selection procedure and the necessity of all- round personality to be part of the Indian Navy. The University Training & Placement officials participated in the programme.
