Taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan forward, The NORTHCAP University (formerly ITM University) recently organized a cleanliness drive in Sector 23 market, Gurgaon. The aim was not only to clean up the neighboring areas but also to spread awareness among the students as well as campus neighborhood on the need for a healthy environment. It also intends to improve the appearance of the city.

Taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan forward, The NORTHCAP University (formerly ITM University) recently organized a cleanliness drive in Sector 23 market, Gurgaon. The aim was not only to clean up the neighboring areas but also to spread awareness among the students as well as campus neighborhood on the need for a healthy environment. It also intends to improve the appearance of the city.

The 2-hour drive witnessed more than 100 participants including students and faculty members. It was a one small step for the betterment of the surroundings and ran a campaign to clean the area.


Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar, Col Bikram Mohanty (Retd) said, “The University is concerned about its social responsibilities. We have taken many initiatives to sensitize our students about clean and healthy environment. We have recently run campaign on disposal of e-waste materials. We have also installed latest equipment for energy conservation, water harvesting and use of solar energy.”

The drive was organized by Yukti, the social club of the University whose volunteers identified the areas where litter was excessive. Students gathered together to participate in this mission. They put in their effort to clean the area and also sensitized the residents and others in the area about cleanliness and sanitation. The collected garbage and waste collected was disposed at municipal dustbins by the volunteers.
