N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday said that he was prepared to quit the post of Chief Minister to keep the state United.
At a press conference that lasted over an hour, he said that he was not hankering after power and knows well that he is not the permanent Chief Minister of the State. At the same time, he took potshots at AICC in-charge of state affairs Digvijay Singh, saying, “Even Digvijay is not permanent.”
Kiran also took on the Telugu Desam Party and the YSRCP. He said, “I am different from Chandrababu Naidu or Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. They are for power, I am not. I am speaking for the future of the people. My future is not important.” Acknowledging that he had become Chief Minister because of Sonia Gandhi, Kiran said “I am born in Congress. I know if I leave Congress I have no future but I am prepared to leave the post and it is my responsibility to point out the problems of the people.” To a query, he said, “Digvijay Singh has been saying that I am the Chief Minister for united Andhra. That gives me more enthusiasm and I feel we should fight more intensely.” Asked if there was ceasefire between him and Digvijay, he replied, “There is no fire, no ceasefire. Digvijay is my leader and he is reminding me that I am CM of Samaikya Andhra.”
