jaendraGuntur: The Vijaya Yatrotsavam of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham pontiff Jayendra Saraswati, to commemorate completion of 60 years of his service, was held on a colourful note here on Monday. The rally under the auspices of Janachaitanya Aadhyatmika Kendra began at Sri Venkateswara Vijnana Mandir. Followers of the Peetham chief and bhajan teams took part in the procession that ended at Kanchi Peetham's Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple at Brindavan Gardens here. Addressing the gathering, Jayendra expressed happiness over the temple's service activities for 14 years. He appreciated the Guntur district people for making success many religious programmes organised by the temple. Janachaitanya Housing Private Limited chairman and managing director Madala Sudhakar hailed Jayendra Saraswati's social service activities being implemented all over the country. Briefing service programmes taken up so far, he said Sankara Eye Hospital had successfully performed free eye operations to two lakh poor patients. He said the hospitals and educational institutions established by Jayendra Saraswati have been doing tremendous work for the benefit of the poor and needy, he said. Yagams of Sri Ganapati, Sri Navagraha, Sri Narasimha and Sata Chandi apart from Maha Mrityunjaya Rudra Homam were organised under the guidance of the Swamiji. Santi Kalyanotsavam was performed at the temple with the participation of 21 couples. Acharya Sankaranandagiri Swamy, Vasudevanandagiri Swamy and Narayanendra Saraswati took part in Brahmotsavam of the Lord. Devotees from different parts of Guntur district attended the event. Kanchi Peetham representative Kambhampati Nageswara Rao, Bharatiya Dharmika Vignana Parishad founder Bollepalli Satyanarayana, temple committee president Mastanayya, secretary Gummadi and others were present.
