Guntur: The YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma said that the party president, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, wanted to start indefinite hunger strike in jail but differed it due to fear of cancellation of mulakhat. “We also suggested to him to give up the idea as the government might take advantage of the fast and shift him to any jail outside the State,” Vijayammma said, while addressing the people before launching her indefinite hunger strike here.
Vijayamma arrived here one hour late and started her fast at 1 pm after an hour long public speech. She said Jaganmohan Reddy had been active despite being in the jail for all these days. However, this time after the announcement on division of the State, he looked down and depressed, she said. She further revealed that Jaganmohan Reddy wanted to begin his hunger strike in the jail seeking justice for the people of all the three regions. She added that Jaganmohan Reddy wanted the Congress leadership to address the issues of water, revenue and the safety of Seemandhra people in Hyderabad.
‘As the Congress did not give clarity on these issues and people from Seemandhra were fighting on the streets, Jaganmohan Reddy was seen unrest thinking always about the State and people. We consoled him and told him that I would undertake indefinite fast on his behalf,” Vijayamma said.
The YSR Congress leader said that she would continue her fast till justice is done to the three regions. She said she was prepared to sacrifice her life in the fight against the Congress and urged the people to stand by the party. Impressed by the response from the crowd, Vijayamma said that she would inform Jaganmohan Reddy about the love that the people in Guntur were showing her. She also asked them to give her their support in the fight to withdraw the CWC decision.
