Guntur: The indefinite hunger strike launched by the YSR Congress Party honorary president, Y S Vijayamma, entered third day on Wednesday. She was protesting against injustice being done to the Seemandhra due to the division of the State. People from different walks of life, mostly women and young girls, visited the camp and greeted Vijayamma.

The party leaders also mobilized crowd from different parts of Guntur district and the neighbouring Krishna district in support of the fast. Meanwhile, the health of Vijayamma started deteriorating on Wednesday with the sugar levels in her body coming down to 74 mg/dl against the normal levels of 70-120 mg/dl. The doctors from the Guntur General Hospital who conducted medical tests on her at the camp advised her to take liquids to maintain sugar levels. However, she refused to take any liquids and asserted that she would continue her fast till the Congress announced justice to the people of Seemandhra.

Addressing the party activists, Vijayamma said that she would continue the fast till the Congress leadership either did justice to the Seemandhra or withdrew the division proposal. She criticized the Congress leadership for dividing the State in most unscientific way and causing heartburn for the Seemandhra people by doing injustice to them.

She said that the Congress did not give solutions to the problems like the Status of Hyderabad, sharing of water, electricity and revenue, the security for the Seemandhra people living in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
