Art Karat present their latest jewellery collection, ‘KANHA’ at Hotel Taj Deccan, Banjara hills, till April 6

The Art Karat collection was introduced at a time when the concept of semi-precious designer jewellery was unheard in India, when gold was the only metal considered worthy of wearing as an ornament and jewellery was worn, more for its social interpretation of status rather than its capacity to adorn. Art Karat jewellery is made in the base metal silver with gold covering studded with precious and semi-precious authentic gemstones.

The collection focuses on embossed gold mixed with Kundan done in a unique way. Asha Modi, the founder says, “We commissioned various artists to create paintings that were later integrated with precious stones set as temples on the neckline. Many precious stones such as rubies and emeralds were carved into gorgeous God figures adorned with pearls and other elements such as kundan and filigree. It is seldom that such beautiful jewellery can be seen in person, as most of it is now only parts of museums or coffee table books.” The collection includes necklaces, long earrings, bracelets, bajubandhs, tikas, rings and pins. More than 700 designs are priced between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 1, 00,000. With soaring gold prices it is a steal for jewellery collectors.

Art Karat has already exhibited its Kanha collection across the United States, UK, Singapore and Australia. With an over whelming response abroad, they now plan to showcase this range across India in their showrooms and exhibitions. Most designs are also available to see and buy on the company’s website artkarat.com or thru their catalog.
