Summer rains come with a big relief. People in the city breathed a sigh of relief due to the sudden spell of rains late on Tuesday night and on Wednesday evening.

People in the city breathed a sigh of relief due to the sudden spell of rains late on Tuesday night and on Wednesday evening. The city witnessed unexpected drizzles and even thunderstorms and lightning in many areas that gave respite from the scorching summer heat.

With the change in weather, the maximum temperature also dropped from 40 to 38 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature dropped from 25 to 22 degree Celsius on Wednesday. The drop in temperature helps electioneering.
On Wednesday, the city witnessed rainfall in many areas including Himayathnagar, Tarnaka, Erragadda, AS Rao Nagar and LB Nagar. These areas received heavy showers in short spells.
Officials from the Meteorological Department say that in the next two days the city will continue to witness these isolated rains. These unseasonal rains, specifically in this period, are heavy, but often last for a short period of time. The local forecasting officer said, “There has been a build up of humidity in the atmosphere which then condensed and formed rain-bearing clouds. Added to this there is also an upper trough of air which passed from Odisha and parts of southern- Karnataka, towards the Telangana region which hastened the process.”
He added that there would be more isolated rain and thunderstorms across the city on Thursday. The officials say that over the last one week there has been a lot of cloud formation that they have observed over the city which has led to the sudden spell of rains. They have also hinted that after the rain subsides, the temperature in the city would continue to remain the same. It may fluctuate by a degree or two from the average temperature. In the months of May and June, the mercury levels would continue to rise as usual.
“In the future if the humidity grows and rain-bearing clouds are formed, there might be chances of rain. Apart from that there are no weather anomalies that have been reported,” said the forecasting officer.
