City roads, ridden with potholes and ditches have become a perennial problem for commuters, and the death of an Intermediate first year student in AS Rao Nagar on Monday was another unfortunate consequence of such roads. According to a survey it has been identified that the total number of damaged roads has risen up to 2,200.

On August 27, Mayor Majid Hussain proudly declared that the city would be free of potholes within 90 days and new vehicles called ‘Infra Road Pothole Fillers’ or ‘Road Doctors’ would be employed to fill potholes. Unlike their previous attempts at bettering roads, these fillings would last at least one year and the civic body would spend Rs 1.5 crore for the five zones in its limits. Coming up with new alternatives is not new for the civic body, which earlier came up with initiatives like ‘micro surfacing’ and ‘milling technology’.

Here are a few roads which have turned dangerous for commuters and are in dire need of attention.
