The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) will organise ‘TANA Chaitanya Sravanthi’, a rich cultural programme with emphasis on folk arts, at the A Convention Centre on December 21.

The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) will organise ‘TANA Chaitanya Sravanthi’, a rich cultural programme with emphasis on folk arts, at the A Convention Centre on December 21.

Addressing the newsmen, TANA president Nannapaneni Mohan said that TANA is the oldest and the largest non-profit Telugu ethnic organisation in the USA, serving the Indo-American, American and Telugu communities for the last 38 years.

“TANA is well known for its diverse activities in cultural, literary, religious and educational fields,” he added.

As part of the programme in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, TANA will organise a health camp at Chilvuru in Guntur district and will felicitate writers and artistes of Telangana on December 11. Other programmes include organisation of a health camp and a youth festival at Pindiporulu and Marturupeta in Khammam district on December 13, unveiling the statue of legendary film director Bapu at Narsapuram in West Godavari district on December 15, presentation of Gidugu Ramamurthy award to Dr Ravva Sri Hari from Hyderabad at Kasturi Gardens in Nellore on December 18, observation of TANA Service Day and organisation of a health camp at Peda Avutupalli in Krishna district on December 21. A mega health camp under the aegis of TANA will also be held at the Hanuman Junction in Krishna district on December 27. TANA publications will be displayed at the Vijayawada Book Fair on January 2, 2015.

Association secretary V Satish said, “TANA has provided a total aid of Rs 300 crore for various development and service activities in the country, mostly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

“The association will hand over a cheque for Rs 2 crore to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu towards rehabilitation of Hudhud cyclone victims,” he added.

Andhra Chamber of Commerce president Muthavarapu Murali Krishna, TANA members Dr Naren Kodali, Anil Lingamaneni, Rajani Akurati, Jogeswara Rao Peddiboyina and others were present at the conference.
