Mridangam vidwan felicitated. To commemorate the World Music Day Swara Tarangini and Telugu Artistes Federation jointly conducted vocal concert and a demonstrative lecture on mridangam was organised at Sivarama Krishna Kshetram on Sunday.

To commemorate the World Music Day Swara Tarangini and Telugu Artistes Federation jointly conducted vocal concert and a demonstrative lecture on mridangam was organised at Sivarama Krishna Kshetram on Sunday.

The programme commenced with the vocal concert of GRMT Nageswara Sarma. He started his concert with “Vara Vallabha” keerthana, the composition of GN Bala Subrahmanyam in Hamsadhwani ragam. With his commendable voice he also sang Saint Tyagaraja swami keerthana “Nidhi cala Sukama” in Kalyani ragam.

The artiste ably presented the composition of Tyagaraja Swami Keerthana “Cakkani Rajamargamundaga” in Kharahari Priya ragam. He concluded his concert with Thillana in Basant Bahar raga. Ganduri Srinivasa Murthy supported him on violin and K Anil Kumar on mridangam.

Well-known mridangam artiste Kommajyosula Sadguru Charan was honoured by the Telugu Artistes Federation as part of the event. R Mohana Krishna, BV Syam Prasad, A Ramakrishna, Ganduri Srinivasamurthy, PSV Sudhakar were present for the felicitation. Sadguru Charan also presented the importance of mridangam in concerts in his demonstrative lecture.
