Here are few reasons why you should not badmouth your ex.

Word can get around to him/her. The world is a small place and you could do without another confrontation with your ex. So, whenever you feel the urge to say something bad, remember that if you can't say something good, it's best not to speak.

Words, once uttered, cannot be taken back. If you do decide to get back together at some point, all the negative things that you have said about them could come between you two and destroy your chances.

Only an immature person would go around slamming their ex to all and sundry. It's not the best way to conduct a relationship. Also, you have to respect the relationship that you shared with the person at one point, and no one else should be privy to that.

No one likes spending time with cry babies. If you continue slamming your ex, people are going to get fed up of you and will start avoiding you. Most people resort to badmouthing their ex as a means to increase their own self worth, it works against them as people will start thrashing them behind their back.

Justifying your stand won't earn you brownie points. You need to realise that you don't owe anyone an explanation for what went wrong in the relationship. That's between you and your partner. Justifying your stand is not going to make you look good in anyone's eyes. On the contrary, it paints a negative picture of you as an immature individual who is stuck in the past and cannot move on.
