Seaplane boost for tourism. The tourism department conducted a workshop at Sri Venkateswara Anam Kalakendram in Rajahmundry on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, minister of finance, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu stated that seaplanes would soon be introduced as part of tourism development in the state. He said that the State Cabinet has approved the new tourism policy.

Speaking on the occasion, minister of finance, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu stated that seaplanes would soon be introduced as part of tourism development in the state. He said that the State Cabinet has approved the new tourism policy.

He mentioned that Andhra Pradesh has nearly 1000 km long seacoast and eleven ports that could be developed through tourism: in areas like Visakhapatnam, Hope Island near Kakinada and Maredumili in East Godavari. There were abundant natural resources in the state even after the bifurcation, he said. In addition, historical temples and beaches in 13 districts were suitable for tourism, he observed.

Expressing that the state government is encouraging tourism through public-private partnership, he called upon tourism department and private companies to identify tourism spots and implement the projects. Beach bars and sunbaths Minister for Panchayathiraj, Ch Ayyannapathrudu, stressed the need for positive approach by the tourism department and the government towards tourism.

He lamented that tourism is not taking leap due to the various constraints and stressed the need for liberalisation. He advocated for sunbaths, casinos and special zones for visiting foreign tourists. He stressed the need for amendments in 1/70 acts in areas like Araku to attract tourists.

Excise minister, Kollu Ravindra, saw great future for beach bars and resorts for in Tourism officials urged the minister to give tax exemption for liquor in star hotels as they maintain stock only to cater the needs of visitors.
