Better deal for artistes sought

Navyandhra Kalakarulu Rachayitala Samakhya has urged the State Government to set up Kala Pranganams in all districts and mandals to promote art and culture in a big way. Speaking at a state level meeting of the federation held in the city on Sunday, its convener SUN Murthy underlined the need to patronage arts to uphold our rich culture and heritage.

“The government should implement more schemes for the welfare of senior artistes, besides extending pension and other benefits. The Department of Culture should be strengthened.

Each artiste should be provided an opportunity to take part in cultural programmes of the government,” he said. Federation co-convener Anantha Hrudayaraj, Jana Vahini Party president DSNV Prasad Babu, Krishna District Writers Association president GV Purnachand and others were present.
