Themed as the country’s largest Startup Conference, the two-day multidimensional event, ‘August Fest’ that concluded on Sunday proved as a morale-booster for thousands of youngsters who yearn to be entrepreneurs in the future. What made it a livelier experience was the fact that young aspirants received training by way of short and long-term programmes that have been devised for them.
In addition, movies of different genres were screened at the fest amongst which, a short film ‘Soonyam’, by Vinod Anantoju, received tremendous applause. “The movie discusses the ‘collective loneliness’ that has been increasing day-by-day,” says Vinod. “People spend time with each other, either as roommates or colleagues for years; yet do not really know each other. This is the theme of the movie,” he said.
“Capitalistic influence resulted in the idea of consumerist thinking in everyone; that is the main reason behind this collective loneliness,” stated Vinod. Apart from the many technological innovations, such as 3D printing, ‘UpGrad programme’ and ‘Kisan Raja’, music composer Ramana Gogula vowed to mentor five startups for three months.
Some of these startup demos include ‘Wearable Technology’ by C-Vox that has come out with revolutionary T-Shirts, which not only absorb sweat, but are also fitted with head phones and lights in the back. This offers protection to the runners and those who involve in Marathon.
B Tech graduates from Guntur came out with women security handbags; that is the need of the hour. The event proved beneficial to art as well. A demo of ‘paper art’ was made by Sanjhi to revive its spirit.
