Designers led the runway with utmost flair on day two of the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week on Sunday evening. The show started with a classical dance where four dancers performed and expressed their beauty for Indian culture.

The dance was followed by a soothing classical music at the background and the models walked the ramp dressed in dazzling and stylish traditional South Indian wear designed by Ashima Leena.

Talking about her collection, Ashima said “My designs are inspired from the beauty of Southern India, themed as ‘Dakshna’ where I have taken elements from South in the form of motifs, jewels and drapes.

BMW is a brand which every girl and boy would love to buy and I have related this luxurious car with my designs as there is an intense connection between fashion and branded car like BMW.” While India Bridal Fashion Week is being happening from five years pan India, BMW joined hands by sponsoring the show since two years.

The world wide mission of IBFW is to present Indian designers as an ever-evolving platform to flawlessly connect with buyers, press and consumers and their aim was to develop the long- term relationship of the Indian fashion industry by constructing promoting, branding and trading capabilities and profiling Indian skills on the platform. Talking about the platform, Gautham Gudigopuram, Managing Director of Kun Exclusive said, “Driving a BMW is a joyous occasion much like wedding.”

Kanjivaram by Neeta Lulla

Neeta Lulla brought to the table a collection for the new age bride. A modern outlook of luxurious form, colours and elegant drapes; these ensembles put a new twist on traditional Kanjivaram weaves. Embellished with zardosi and appliqué, the collection had a sensuality and contemporary style statement to it.

The highlights of this line were voluminous and flowing skirts with variant pleating techniques, draped sarees and dhotis and pants with crop tops. Taking inspiration from the traditional patters of South India, Neeta took the line to the next level with vibrant colours and weaves.

Ashima Leena’s kaleidoscope of colors

The collection ‘Dakshna’ by Ashima Leena brought a sense of purity and tradition for the brides. Inspired from the beauty of Southern India, this collection takes elements from the South in forms of motifs, jewels, fabrics and drapes. Finely appliqued temple motifs on rich silks, hand-embroidered jeweled motifs and borders bring subtle illumination.

Organza, French net and specially woven south silk and brocades are the highlights of this stunning collection. Re-invented lengths and patterns took the focus, with blouses, necklines, cowl drapes and layering of sheer fabrics. The iconic lehenga-choli transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns, crafted for both the contemporary and the traditional Indian Bride stole the show.
