World’s 1st Obstetric Anaesthesia Congress to be held in city
In order to exchange ideas in the field of obstetric anaesthesia and obstetric critical care, Prerna Anaesthesia & Critical Care Services along with Association of Obstetric Anaesthesiologists (AOA) will organise the first ever World Obstetric Anaesthesia Congress on Friday. Health minister Dr C Laxma Reddy will flag off the congress.
In order to exchange ideas in the field of obstetric anaesthesia and obstetric critical care, Prerna Anaesthesia & Critical Care Services along with Association of Obstetric Anaesthesiologists (AOA) will organise the first ever World Obstetric Anaesthesia Congress on Friday. Health minister Dr C Laxma Reddy will flag off the congress.
Close to 900 participants including 28 international institutions will discuss the latest medical and technical developments in the field of obstetric anaesthesia, both from the developed and developing nations.
Participants will showcase more than 100 papers on various issues pertaining to this particular field. The World Health Organisation’s millennium goal was to reduce maternal mortality by 75 per cent up to the end of 2015 from 1990.
As per end of 2014 data, India’s maternal mortality average is around 167/1,00,000 live births while undivided state of Andhra Pradesh had maternal mortality rate of 110/1,00,000 live births.
Announcing the schedule of the event, Dr A Rampapa Rao, chairman and director of Prerna Anaesthesia& Critical Care Services (PACCS), said, “Our aim is to elevate the standards and practices of Obstetric anaesthesia across the nation through a‘set of standard guidelines’ in practice of obstetric anaesthesia for a safe and effective practice.”
The flagship event will host four workshops which will have live demonstrations and training modules for participants. Each workshop will have 80 delegates where they would have hands on experience in understanding and doing the procedures practically.
The four workshops are Advanced Obstetric Analgesia, Critical Incidents in Obstetric Anaesthesia, Critical Care in Obstetrics and Simulation – Saving Mother’s Lives.
