Increased pollution, obesity and stationary lifestyle are resulting in frequent incidence of blood clots in veins (DVT: Deep Vein Thrombosis). Once the clot forms, it can travel towards the heart and can cause a life threatening condition.
Latest drugs and drug delivery methods have improved the prognosis, but in some cases, patients need to use drugs for the rest of their lives.
This unique condition requires medical precision and expertise of highest order.
MaxCure Hospitals, Madhapur, has recently handled such complex cases of these venous as well as the arterial diseases. Doctors have played a critical role in handling these rare conditions.
In one of the cases, a fitness freak, non-obese, non-smoking, middle-aged male suddenly started experiencing fatigue after his morning exercise. Upon arriving at MaxCure, preliminary examinations and vitals along with ECG, ECHO were almost normal.
Upon digging deeper, CT Angio of lung vessels revealed threatening large clots. He was shifted to ICCU and was given novel IV clot lysing drug. He had prompt recovery and was advised oral blood thinners namely Dabigatran.
Similarly, another case involved a 30-year-old lady with no risk factors. The patient underwent DVT treatment at another hospital, but without much success.
Upon arriving at MaxCure, she underwent a novel procedure called local thrombolysis, where a catheter was inserted through the skin in to the affected vein and a powerful clot lysing medication was given through the catheter.
She responded well to the treatment and subsequently prescribed a new medication called Apixaban. The above cases are prime examples of how care has been taken by the hospital from the preliminary diagnostic stage to the final surgery and post-OP care.
