Samala Venu appointed Tourism Ambassador for Telangana

City based magician, Samala Venu has become the only Indian to hold two Merlin Awards. Recognising the feat, B Venkatesham, Secretary, Telangana Tourism announced Venu’s name as Tourism Ambassador for state on Thursday.

The International Magicians Society (IMS), USA has chosen the magician for the coveted ‘Best Illusionist’ award for this year. On behalf of IMS and its members, the CEO and Chairman, Tony Hassini presented the award to Venu at The Plaza Hotel, in Hyderabad.

SamalaVenu is a Magician and Illusionist with over 35 years of experience in magic. He holds two ‘Guiness World Records’ and a ‘National Youth Award’. He has performed more than 7000 shows across India and in more than 28 countries.

In December 2014, he was awarded with the Merlin Award for Outstanding Contribution to Magic to recognise his contribution towards the Welfare of Magicians and Upliftment of Magic Art through his academy.

His biggest achievement though is the six-month Diploma in Magic Art course at Telugu University that he had started. This is the only university offering a regular magic course in the world.
