History

According to locals, it was a small village during the 1960s surrounded with thick forest, lakes and wells; dominated with active wild animals. As the city grew, the village developed in a phased manner and is now the home of an Electronic Industrial Park; a big business center.

During the Nizam era the village was known as Koshaguda (Kosha meaning money and Guda meaning place). The VIIth Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan and the treasurer of cash and jewelry stayed in this area for some time. In the course of time, the village name was changed to Kushaiguda.

In 1975, it was a place for bore well equipment manufacturing companies and a famous export centre for coin boxes.

K Kishore Kumar, chairman, Kushaiguada Municipal Industrial Area Service Society said, “Kushaiguda Electronic Industrial Park is one of the best industrial parks in the state. The park is spread over in 64 acres consisting more than 230 medium and small scale industries and ancillary units generating employment to more than 9,000 people directly and indirectly.”

Problems

Local residents and industrialists complain that the ground water level has dried and there is no sufficient water for residential and industrial sector needs. Roads and streets are narrow and in bad condition. There is a need to widen the existing roads and lay new cement and black tar roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
