After suffering a head injury Kaavuri Veera Brahmam was declared brain dead post which his family took a decision to donate his organs. The heart, both kidneys and cornea were donated.

As matching recipients for the heart were not available in the state, the organ’s match was found in Chennai. TNOS (Tamil Nadu Organ Sharing) & Jeevandan coordinated the transport of the heart to Chennai.

A green corridor was made at 6:10 am from Apollo Hospitals to Rajeev Gandhi International Airport to facilitate the quick movement. The Liver and one Kidney were transplanted at Apollo Hospitals Jubilee Hills and another kidney at NIMS.

Dr. Manish Varma, Consultant Transplant Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, said, "Managing the logistics is the most important part of multi-organ procurement.

The organs have to be safely taken out from the donor and they have to transport within a limited time under strictly regulated conditions. Any lapse in the process can cost the recipient his/her life.

Our team of coordinators had to seamlessly coordinate with Jeevandan and TNOS to make this happen." All recipients were reportedly doing well post surgery.
