Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday appealed to the people of Greater Hyderabad to crush the arrogance of TRS and MIM in the GHMC elections.

In a media statement here, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS resorted to unethical means to lure voters in the GHMC election campaign. Despite having zero performance, the TRS leaders, including Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, have tried all means to cheat and mislead the voters.

"The Chief Minister was silent on the status of all major promises. He failed to mention as to why the TRS government did not implement the promises that it made for the development of Hyderabad in its manifesto for general election 2014.

Without fulfilling a single promise, the TRS came out with a fresh list of promises in its manifesto for GHMC elections while becoming the only party with two manifestoes in less than two years. While KTR came up with a huge list of promises, KCR made some more additions later.

There is no clarity on how funds will be mobilised to fulfil all those promises especially in a situation when Telangana State is heading towards financial emergency," he said. Uttam Kumar Reddy also slammed MIM for criticising Congress and its leadership.

He said MIM has reached to this level only because of Congress. However, instead of being thankful, the MIM leaders have used derogatory and abusive languages against senior Congress leaders including Nehru-Gandhi family.

"MIM leaders might live and die for elections. But Nehru-Gandhi family has set several precedents of sacrifices and service to the nation. The MIM leaders have no stature to even comment on them. MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi got an identity at the national level only after becoming a part of UPA in 2004,” he said.

The TPCC president questioned both TRS and MIM over non-implementation of promises such as 12 per cent Muslim reservation. He asked as to why CBI or judicial probe was not ordered into Alair encounter and the Special Investigation Team, which was constituted to probe the encounter, did not begin its work. He accused both the parties of misleading the Muslims and other communities with fake promises.

Further, he said neither TRS government did anything to develop Hyderabad during the last 20 months nor MIM played any role to address the grievances of people. He appealed to the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates to give a fitting reply to the arrogance of TRS and MIM.
